The exhibition of Zdeněk Sklenář was a version of the large-scale exhibition, Zdeněk Sklenář’s China, staged with a great response in April 2009 at the National Gallery in China. Sklenář’s work was represented by 30 famous illustrations created for the eponymous book of Chinese poetry and several superb pictures documenting the author’s deep insight into Chinese subject matter. Attention at the exhibition focused on the bibliophile Czech-Chinese edition of the book Songs of Ancient China, graphically stylised by the renowned Chinese graphic artist Shen Shaojun.
